The Mexican border town has been labelled the country's deadliest city.

  • Laid back Maria Connolly has been working as a nurse at the Royal Hospital in Preston since 1999.
  • When Maria isn’t on the ward, she enjoys being outdoors; running around Manchester, and walking and climbing in the Lakes
  • Auxiliary nurse Pablo Vasquez is Maria's host. He has been working nights in A&E at Juarez General, Mexico, for six years.
  • "A year and a half ago a fellow nurse was kidnapped so now I'm always extra careful." Medics, seen as rich, are prime targets.
  • In her two weeks, Maria encountered a range of violent injuries. One girl was shot through the neck for refusing to join a gang.
